Navigation & Infotainment Package

Data protection information

Navigation Plus

The "Navigation Plus" service enables you to use your Porsche Connect App or your vehicle's mobile phone connection to

  • retrieve current or forecast navigation and traffic information along your route based on your previous destinations and routes (Navigation),

  • use real-time traffic information to display the current traffic situation on your route (Real-Time Traffic), and

  • update your navigation map incrementally on the basis of your current location and active route guidance (Online Map Update).

In addition, you can also use the "Navigation" sub-function seamlessly across all output devices. For the "Navigation" sub-function, you can select, enter and save destinations and routes in the Porsche Connect App and in your vehicle's PCM (Porsche Communication Management, the central control unit for audio, navigation and communication).

When you select the service in your vehicle, PCM initially registers with our system using the vehicle identification number.

If you select the service via the Porsche Connect App, you register with your Porsche ID.

We require this information in order to assign your vehicle to your user account and to allow us to check that you are entitled to use the service.

After the connection has been established, we will determine the information you requested, depending on the sub-function;

  • for "Navigation" sub-function, the current location, the current speed, the current direction of travel and, where applicable, active or forecast navigation destinations and the associated route guidance,

  • for "Real-Time Traffic" sub-function, the current location, the current speed and the current direction of travel.

The aforementioned data may contain sensitive personal data, e.g. your location data. We must process such sensitive personal data in order to provide you with the Navigation Plus service.

The data transmitted is used to determine the information you have requested. The information is then assigned to your vehicle by our system and transferred to your vehicle's PCM. Your data will be stored for the duration of the query for this purpose and will then be deleted.

If you use the Porsche Connect App for the request, the location of your device will be used instead of your vehicle location and the search results will be transferred to the Porsche Connect App.

For the "Online Map Update" sub-function, the servers of the third-party service providers establish the map version currently used by your navigation system and the region to be updated, and check whether any new map material is available. If new map material is available this is incrementally transmitted directly from the external service provider servers to your navigation system.

In addition, the aforementioned information transmitted from your vehicle to the service provider without any personal information can be used to improve the service or contribute to the services database.

We use service providers commissioned by Porsche to provide the sub-functions of Navigation Plus. Please note that the servers of the third-party service providers on which data is processed in the course of the service are located within China. You consent to our transmission of your information to our service provider (AutoNavi Software Co., Ltd.) for purposes of providing you with the Navigation Plus service. If you do not consent to the transmission of such information, you should not use the Navigation Plus service.

You always have the option of deactivating the service in the system settings of your PCM. There is also the option of deactivating the service as part of the whole "Services without geolocation" service group. However, the functionality of the service may be limited or eliminated by performing a general deactivation in the system settings.

Voice Pilot

Using the "Voice Pilot" service, you can make voice inputs or have them converted into text via the mobile network connection in your vehicle and thus control services and apps as well as search for and enter destinations by voice dialogue, among other things. Through use of position information, voice inputs relating to destinations can be checked for plausibility by the system and the quality of the voice input improved. You can also have news and other information read out by the function.

When you select the service in the vehicle, your vehicle's PCM (Porsche Communication Management, the central control unit for audio, navigation and communication services) initially logs into our system using the vehicle identification number.

In order to establish a connection between your vehicle and the service provider commissioned by Porsche, a time-limited authentication key is exchanged between our systems and the PCM of your vehicle.

We require this information in order to assign your vehicle to your user account and to allow us to check that you are entitled to use the service. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

In addition, we also use this information together with the time at which the service was accessed (timestamp) for the purpose of creating a database for anonymised usage statistics. We store the information for a period of 12 months for this purpose.

In order to permit voice input, an audio file is transmitted after a connection has been set up from the PCM of your vehicle directly to the corresponding service providers together with the selected language, where applicable the selected service and the current version information. Using the transmitted data, the service provider commissioned by Porsche creates text files and semantically interprets these, if applicable. The results are then transmitted back to the PCM of your vehicle. In the case of voice control of destination inputs, the search terms that have been converted into text and the vehicle position are exchanged with navigation and search service providers for determination of route and destination information. The legal basis for this is the fulfilment of a contract concluded with you.

The current position of your vehicle is transmitted in order to check the plausibility of voice input of destinations and thus improve the quality of voice input. For the avoidance of doubt, we will not collect your vehicle's tracks, but only the instant location information. To enable your request to be assigned, an authentication key is also exchanged with the servers of the service providers.

In order to continuously improve voice conversion and semantic interpretation, the data transmitted to the service provider as well as the results determined by the service provider commissioned by Porsche are stored for a period of 90 day and evaluated in anonymised form. The legal basis for this is your consent.

We use third-party service providers commissioned by Porsche to execute and provide the service. Please note that the servers of the service providers on which data is processed in the course of the service are located within China. You acknowledge and consent to our transmission of your information to our service provider for purposes of providing you with the Voice Pilot service. If you do not consent to the transmission of such information, you should not use the Voice Pilot service.

You always have the option of deactivating the service in the system settings of the PCM in your vehicle. There is also the option of deactivating the service as part of the whole "Services with geolocation" service group. However, the functionality of the service may be limited or no longer available after performing general deactivation in the system settings.

Finder

The "Finder" service allows you to determine Points of Interest near your location, along your route, or at your destination online using My Porsche, your Porsche Connect App and your vehicle's mobile phone connection. You can also call up dynamic information about Points of Interest such as occupancy status, current ratings and prices, current opening times and other available information.

When you select the service, your vehicle's Porsche Communication Management ("PCM", i.e. the central control unit for audio, navigation and communication services) initially registers with our system using the vehicle identification number.

If you select the service via My Porsche or the Porsche Connect App, you register with your Porsche ID.

To enable a connection to be established to your vehicle's PCM, a time-limited authentication key is exchanged between our systems and your vehicle's PCM.

We require this information in order to assign your vehicle to your user account and to allow us to check that you are entitled to use the service.

In order to determine the search results based on the requested search term and the location, destination and route information, after the connection has been established, the relevant search term, the current location of your vehicle and, where appropriate, your navigation destination and your route will be transferred by our system to the relevant service provider. The transmitted data is used to generate information to enable online Points of Interest to be displayed. The information is then assigned to your vehicle by our system and transferred to your vehicle's PCM.

If you use the Porsche Connect App for the request, the location of your device will be used instead of your vehicle location and the search results will be transferred to the Porsche Connect App.

Your data will be stored for the duration of the query for this purpose and will then be deleted.

In order to avoid the need to repeatedly retrieve for information in the event of identical requests from several users, your data will be stored centrally by a service provider for 30 days and used to classify corresponding requests and content.

We use third-party service providers commissioned by Porsche to help us determine Points of Interest and the associated dynamic information. Please note that the servers of the third-party service providers on which data is processed in the course of the service are located within China.

In order to make recurring search terms available more quickly in a preselection, search terms entered in the PCM of your vehicle or in your Porsche Connect App will be included in in-vehicle search statistics. These search statistics can be deleted by restoring factory settings or by reinstalling the Porsche Connect App.

You always have the option of deactivating the service in the system settings of your PCM. There is also the option of deactivating the service as part of the whole "Services with geolocation" service group. However, the functionality of the service may be limited or no longer available after performing general deactivation in the system settings.

Radio Plus

The "Radio Plus" service allows you to access the integrated internet radio in your vehicle via a mobile network connection and to automatically switch between the radio sources FM / AM / Online Radio depending on the connection quality. For the radio stations in your current station list, your favourites or short cuts, you can also retrieve information online on AM and FM reception parameters, online stream addresses, the current country, the current system language, the respective market and a mathematical image of the currently played audio (audio fingerprint) for identification of the artist or track and, for example, stream the corresponding radio station online.

When you select the service, your vehicle's Porsche Communication Management ("PCM", i.e. the central control unit for audio, navigation and communication services) initially logs into our system using the vehicle identification number.

To enable a connection to be established between your device and the required systems in order to display the location, a time-limited authentication key is exchanged between the servers of the third-party service providers and your device.

We require this information in order to assign your vehicle to your user account and to allow us to check that you are entitled to use the service.

In addition, we also use this information together with the time at which the service was accessed (timestamp) for the purpose of creating a database for anonymised usage statistics for improvement of our service offering to you. As statistics are anonymised, we cannot use them to identify you. We store the information for a period of 12 months for this purpose.

In order to permit use of the above-mentioned information and the online stream, a request is transmitted from your vehicle to our system after the connection has been set up. Information on your current radio playback and (where applicable) online stream is generated with the transmitted data. The information is then transmitted to the PCM of your vehicle. The data will be stored in our system for this purpose until the next status change and will be overwritten when the status changes.

For provision of the above-mentioned information and the online stream, we use third-party service providers who are commissioned by Porsche. Please note that the servers of the third-party service providers on which data is processed in the course of the service are located inside China. You consent to our transmission of your information to our service providers for purposes of providing you with the Radio Plus service. If you do not consent to the transmission of such information, you should not use the Radio Plus service.

You always have the option of deactivating the service by deactivation of the PCM wireless module. In addition, it is also possible there to deactivate the service as part of the overall service group "Individual service deactivation (Privacy Mode)". However, the functionality of the service may be limited or no longer available after performing a general deactivation in the system settings.

News

You can use the "News" service to call up personalized newsfeeds and Twitter messages in your vehicle via the wireless network connection. My Porsche allows you to create personalized RSS newsfeeds according to your preferences. To receive newsfeeds in your language, your current system language will be sent to the news backend. In order to be able to retrieve Twitter messages from your user account on Twitter, you also have the option of entering your access data for Twitter under your My Porsche user account. This will generate a personal authentication key that will allow the PCM (Porsche Communication Management = central control unit for audio, navigation and communication) to authenticate your vehicle to Twitter for the purpose of retrieving Twitter messages from your Twitter account, which will be stored in our system.

When selecting the service in your vehicle, the PCM of your vehicle first logs on to our system with the vehicle identification number. We need this information to verify the permissions to use the service. As a database for creating anonymized usage statistics, we store the service call together with your vehicle identification number and a time stamp for a period of 12 months. To use the personalized service via My Porsche or via the PCM, you can register with your Porsche ID.

We use external providers for the creation and provision of news feeds and for the retrieval of Twitter messages. Please note that servers of Twitter and the service providers on which data is processed as part of the service may also be located outside the People's Republic of China. In order to connect to the PCM of your vehicle, a time-limited authorization key is exchanged between the servers of the service providers and the PCM of your vehicle.

After the connection has been established, you can use the PCM of your vehicle to call up your message feeds from the service providers or log in to Twitter. To authenticate yourself for accessing your Twitter messages, your Personal Twitter Permission Key will be sent to Twitter, Inc., 1355 Market Street, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA. Porsche and the commissioned service providers process their content retrieved from newsfeed providers and Twitter in order to deliver it and otherwise do not access it.

Please note that we have no influence on the further collection, processing and use of personal data by Twitter and also do not have any influence on the place of data processing by Twitter. Therefore, please request information about the type, scope and purpose of the collection and use of personal data directly from the third-party provider.

By deactivating the PCM radio module in the system settings, you can deactivate the data exchange of your vehicle's PCM via the wireless network connection. As a result, the functionality of the service may be restricted or may no longer be available.

Weather

Using the Weather service, it is possible to view the weather situation at the current location, the active destination or a stored favourite location. In order to use the weather favourites function, the customer must log into the service in the vehicle with their Porsche ID.

When you select the service in the vehicle, the PCM (Porsche Communication Management) initially logs into our system using your vehicle identification number.Alternatively, it is possible to use the Weather Service without logging into your account (as a guest – favourites functionality is not available).

To enable a connection to be established to your vehicle's PCM, a time-limited authentication key is exchanged between our systems and your vehicle's PCM.

We require this information in order to assign your vehicle to your user account and to allow us to check that you are entitled to use the service.

In addition, we also use this information together with the time at which the service was accessed (timestamp) for the purpose of creating a database for anonymised usage statistics. We store the information for a period of 12 months for this purpose.

In order to access the weather at the current location, destination and favourites location, a list of cities and coordinates is transferred from your vehicle to the content provider after the connection has been established. Information about the weather at the above-mentioned locations is retrieved on the basis of the transmitted data. The list of favourites with city name and coordinates is then stored in our system under the Porsche ID. Your data will be stored in our system for this purpose and deleted when they are manually changed by you.

In order to search for the weather at a location, the name of the respective city in transmitted from your vehicle via our system to the content provider. The city for which the search is to be performed and the GPS coordinates are transferred with the transmitted data. These results are then transferred to your vehicle in order to be displayed. Your data will not be stored or logged for this purpose.

In order to display the weather at a requested location, the GPS coordinates are transferred from your vehicle to the content provider without any direct customer reference. The weather data for the GPS coordinates is requested with the transmitted data. These results are then transferred to your vehicle in order to be displayed. Your data will not be stored or logged for this purpose.

Please note that the service provider's servers on which data is processed in the course of the service are located within China. You acknowledge and consent to our transmission of your information to our service provider for purposes of providing you with the Weather service. If you do not consent to the transmission of such information, you should not use the Weather service.

You always have the option of deactivating the service in the system settings of the PCM in your vehicle. In addition, it is also possible there to deactivate the service as part of the overall service group "Location services or data transmission services".

More information about data privacy at Porsche Connect can be found in our privacy policy.

City Events

With the “Events” service, you can use your wireless network connection to call up current event information in your area, at another location or at your navigation destination.

When calling up the service in your vehicle, the PCM (Porsche Communication Management = central control unit for audio, navigation and communication) of your vehicle first logs on to our system with the vehicle identification number. We need this information to verify the permissions to use the service. As a database for creating anonymized usage statistics, we store the service call in connection with your vehicle identification number and a time stamp for a period of 12 months.

We use service providers commissioned by Porsche to provide the event information. Please note that servers of the service providers on which data is processed as part of the service may also be located outside the People's Republic of China. In order to connect to the PCM of your vehicle, a temporary authorization key is exchanged between our systems and the PCM of your vehicle.

Once the connection has been established, the current location of your vehicle or a position selected by you (e.g. navigation destination) is transferred from the PCM of your vehicle to our systems, depending on the request. Based on this information, the service providers determine event information within the area relevant to the request and transmit it to our systems, from where the information is sent to the PCM of your vehicle.

By deactivating the PCM radio module in the system settings, you can deactivate the data exchange of your vehicle's PCM via the wireless network connection. As a result, the functionality of the service may be restricted or may no longer be available.
